Directing
Homebody
2024 / pre-production
Homebody explores the universal concept of attachment to a place of living, to the feeling of home, and it's building both physical and emotional.
At the same time
During the course of a conversation, this film explores the impact of technology on humans, immersing us in a cacophony of multitasking.
2020 / co-directing with Jimmy Marcoux / digital / 7 min
Written at the end of 2019 and presented via Zoom during the pandemic, our project took on an entirely new dimension. The initial idea was to convey a technological overload in an installation space; this transformed into an experience that resonated deeply with our current realities since we couldn't meet in person. The character's interaction, deconstructing into a visual and auditory cacophony, reflected the challenges of social distancing and virtual communication.
This project was our final thesis at the University of Montreal, where I also served as director of photography.
Abondance
2022 / digital & 16mm / 5 min
The movements of the water merge with those of dance, moving the videographer who finally sees themselves reflected in it.
To direct this movie I let myself be guided by the filming, with the simple idea of exploring the parallels between the movements of water and those of humans. I thought for a long time about why I had this fascination with the movements of water and thus included this reflection in the creative process. How can I film and encapsulate what I feel? This approach invites contemplation and reflection on the effects of nature on the human body and, in contrast, the effects of the city. We allow ourselves to be influenced by different natural, emotional movements and those beyond our control. This artistic expression helped me through a personal process while still leaving space for each viewer to listen to their reflections while watching.
This experimental short film marks my first work with professional performers. I presented this film at the Image+nation festival in 2022. In addition to directing, I also took on the roles of editor and co-director of photography.
Re/garde
2019 / digital / 12 min
Re/garde is a capture of a moment in life through memories with loved ones, quietly revealing their way of being.
The goal of creating this film was to immortalize memories in a sensory way. I wanted to immerse myself in my daily life to capture it and be able to look back on it later with a fresh perspective. I take moments to pause and appreciate how people come alive, taking the time to be grateful for their presence. This film represents who I was intimately at that point in my life.
I conceived this project, inspired by the home movies of Stan Brakhage. This initiative marks my beginning as an independent artist while I was still pursuing my studies. I took on all the roles from filming to editing.
